January 17, 2025
SAULT STE. MARIE, ON – Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) is pleased to make a third quarter (October 1 – December 31) payment totaling $1,007,299 to the City of Hamilton for hosting Elements Casino Flamboro.
So far, during OLG’s fiscal year (April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025), Hamilton has received $4,143,774. Since the gaming site opened in October 2000, Hamilton has received $109,972,812.
These payments to host communities are based on a formula consistently applied across all gaming sites in Ontario using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at the hosted site.
“OLG’s Municipality Contribution Agreement payments help pave the way for Hamilton to build critical infrastructure and fund important programs that make a real difference for residents,” said Donna Skelly, Member of Provincial Parliament for Flamborough–Glanbrook. “Elements Casino Flamboro supports numerous jobs and generates a great deal of economic activity that, in turn, improves the well-being of our local community.”
Since 1994, host communities have received more than $2.2 billion in non-tax gaming revenue.
OLG is proud to share proceeds of casino gaming with local communities, contributing to economic development including infrastructure and job creation. Payments to host communities are part of OLG’s commitment to Ontario, which includes reinvesting 100 per cent of OLG’s profits back into the province.
Over the past eight years, service providers have invested more than $2.5 billion in private sector capital investment across the province. These investments have led to the development and opening of seven new casinos, one large scale resort development, numerous gaming floor expansions and new non-gaming amenities.
OLG is a crown agency that contributes to a better Ontario by delivering great entertainment experiences for our customers. Acting in a socially responsible way, OLG conducts and manages land-based gaming facilities; the sale of province-wide lottery games; Internet gaming; and the delivery of bingo and other electronic gaming products at Charitable Gaming Centres.
